The Language of Contemporary art by Kate Finkelstein
Online Classes
This course is designed for artists interested in deepening their understanding of contemporary art as both a conceptual field and a professional environment. Spanning two modules across seven months, the program combines lectures, discussions, and practical exercises to help participants build a strong artistic methodology and develop the skills of effective self-presentation.
In the first module (November–February), participants explore the thinking, language, and strategies of contemporary art. Through critical discussions, research-based approaches, and creative exercises, artists learn to analyze their own practice within global artistic contexts and to structure their projects conceptually and methodologically.
The second module (March–May) focuses on self-presentation and professional development, from writing an artist statement and building a personal narrative to creating a portfolio, establishing an online presence, and navigating open calls and grants. The course combines theory and practice in a dynamic format of two-hour sessions every two weeks, encouraging reflection, collaboration, and the development of a coherent artistic identity aligned with today’s art world.
